The small crowd at the Fox Theatre followed every verse sung by Wu-Tang member GZA on Thursday night.

Although the show was not sold out, the rapper still had a pretty big crowd. GZA is a member of the hip-hop group The Wu-Tang Clan, which originally featuring nine rappers including Ol' Dirty Bastard and Method Man.

At the beginning of the hour-long set, GZA noted that the crowd was smaller than his average performance, but that didn't keep him from playing a number of his best songs, including his verses to Wu-Tang songs, GZA appeared to choose what the crowd wanted.

GZA mentioned that he tries to keep his music from ever seeming dated.

"I love being able to make music that's timeless," GZA said.

Many students attended the concert and some loved what they saw.

"GZA threw down tonight. I have never seen him solo but he is better than I expected without anyone else from Wu-Tang," said Nick Pappianou, a senior mechanical engineer and self-declared Wu-Tang aficionado.

However, not everyone in the crowd was completely satisfied.

"GZA's style is kind of repetitive," said Luke Kirsch, a freshman psychology major.

Apparently not all Wu-Tang fans liked GZA solo.

"It was a good show but it would have been tighter if he actually had a special guest like Ghostface Killah or Inspectah Deck," said Ted Kee, a senior MCD biology major.

GZA announced that the whole Wu-Tang Clan would be back in Boulder sometime in December, and that seemed to excite the crowd the most.

Not even a mention of the fact that he played his classic album, Liquid Swords, straight through?
