More bang for your buck
Where to eat for less on the Hill

The hill is much more than a CU hangout - it is the Mecca for cheap eats. Students ready to venture out of the dining halls can enjoy foods from a diverse selection of restaurants without burning holes in their wallets or running up daddy's credit card bill.
Looking for a huge sub and a busy atmosphere? Cleverly named Half Fast Subs is the place where Buffs can feast on subs enormous enough to put Jared's "Subway Diet" to shame.
"I like the gobbler," said Stan Lee, a senior biochemistry major senior referring to the Thanksgiving-reminiscent sub.
Molly Geppert, a junior environmental studies major, said she prefers the "Tavo Plus" sandwich, which consists of turkey breast, avocado, bacon and more.
For a cheap date consult the campus cash booklet available at the CU Book Store. The booklet includes a Half Fast coupon for a bargain of two seven-inch subs for $8.49.
The Sink, another CU student favorite, has an unbelievable happy hour. From 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. specialty appetizers are only $3.
Also, students who miss happy hour can show their ECO PASSES to receive a 15 percent discount on food items.
"We give the discount to support people who use other means of transportation," said Eric Balthaser, bar manager of The Sink.
Kim's Vietnamese is another affordable option. The $4 lunch special is a perfect dining choice for frugal, yet hungry CU students on a tight schedule.
For a quick snack from Kim's convenient outdoor order window, snag three cream cheese wontons or an egg roll for only $1.
Not in the mood for Vietnamese food? Local burrito joint Santiago's Mexican Restaurant is located across the street from Kim's and the prices are comparable.
For just $5, diners receive a full meal and a drink and a plain tamale or Chili Relleno for $1.25.
