Fire broke out in Gold Run Apartments early Friday morning around 2.

Three residents of the Gold Run apartment complex who were admitted to Boulder Community Hospital with injuries sustained from a fire in the apartment complex early this morning have been treated and released, said CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard.

The three victims were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Gold Run apartments, located on the 28th Frontage Rd. and Colorado Avenue, are home to many CU students. The fire broke out 2802 Sundown Lane.

After rescuing several residents, firefighters worked to stop the conflagration within a larger building in the center of the Gold Run complex. As onlookers began to amass, police tape was set up around the building and perimeter.

According to police officers, the cause of the fire is unknown as of yet. All residents were believed to have been evacuated from the building.

Crowds gathered as the flames appeared to leap from the building and intensify near 4:30 a.m. Friday.
